Director @ Elufa Systems Limited

Summary

Steve Yeung
Your daily BI delivered!
18+ years project management and business development experience implementing Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase, Brio, OBIEE, Salesforce.com, Anaplan and PowerBI. Proven record of initiative and success in project management, customer relationship development, and project management from small projects to large-scale ones for multi-national organizations.

I am experienced at managing multiple simultaneous projects, while delivering on-time and to budget. I have a passion for finding new business channels.

Determined and fast-paced, I am results driven, prefer to take concrete action and thrive on challenge. I am comfortable with risk.

I am comfortable with risk and have twice been involved in start-ups. These ventures into running a SMB have broadened my skills at managing a core business. One business idea, uEatiPay, a diner rebate program, was accepted into a government funded incubation program. A second venture, FindHome, a website and mobile app for listing Hong Kong property, was the 3rd highest ranked real estate website in Hong Kong.

I am usually the person initiating new projects and starting new business. I work hard at pre-sales strategies and tactics for project implementation. I can make those 'hard to close' deals.

I am an inspiring, persuasive and articulate project leader. I am able to motivate team members to peak performance levels and achieve results believed impossible.

I maintain a blog on business intelligence at www.mondaybi.com. I am excited by future BI trends and ideas.

Specialties: EPM, Data Scientist, Business Analysis, Project Management, Business Development, Hyperion Planning, Essbase, Oracle BIEE / BI Apps, KPI Research & Development, Design and Implement Dashboards, Salesforce.com

Questions & Answers

What tools do you use?
Just to name a few, I use Essbase, OBIEE, Hyperion Planning, Essbase Analytic Links, ODI, Informatica, Exalytics, Endeca, Golden Gate, Attunity Replicate, OBIA, HFR, FDM... the list doesn't end.
Describe your greatest accomplishments
There's quite a few but I've always been the initiator and took all the start-up jobs within the organization. I've started the BI team from scratch. This took quite some time, having to also do the presales, sales, requirement, design, development... well basically a full scale delivery then also coaching and training new members of the team. We're very mature now so I've started to enhance the overall company's status by introducing partnering up with Oracle. Now being a Oracle Gold Partner as well as being one of the few locally specialized delivery partners for Hyperion and OBIEE. On top of these achievements, I've also started partnerships with well known products in US but was not introduced in Asia. These products include Dodeca and BITeamwork. Finally, I've made Elufa the an Oracle Authorized Education Center as well as being the first Oracle University authorized Hyperion Instructor in Hong Kong.
Who are your main influencers?
It would definitely be Stephen Few in the Visual Analytic and Eric Siegel in the Predictive Analytics world. And if we take this more personal, I would really think Malcolm Gladwell greatly influenced the way I think.
Why did you choose this profession?
It's mainly because BI is an extremely interesting field. There's no field that allows you to learn every departmental and business unit's needs. Why they do things as it is? How they do things? What they care about? These are all important sharing sessions that develop a well built corporate BI. This is also what makes this field extremely interesting. To be honest, it's like someone is paying me to learn all the essence of their field.
